The Denver Nuggets entered Tuesday’s Game 5 matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder looking to do what they were able to do in Game 1 of the series, steal a game on the road.

Denver got off to a great start in the game as they were able to carry a two-point lead into halftime after a back-and-forth first half.

In the third quarter, the Nuggets were able to outscore the Thunder by six points, opening up an eight-point advantage entering the fourth quarter.

It was in the fourth quarter where the Nuggets would struggle with fatigue as they were outscored 34-19 by the Thunder, who ended up grabbing a crucial 112-105 victory to take a commanding 3-2 lead in the series.

Of course, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the way for the Thunder with 31 points, six rebounds and seen assists.

On the other side, Denver saw their three-time MVP Nikola Jokic also put on an incredible performance as he ended the game with 44 points, 15 rebounds and five assists as well as making five three-pointers.

After the game, Shai made a major statement about his fellow MVP finalist after yet another historic performance out of Jokic.

“He’s always thinking plays ahead. His intelligence is very high out there,” Shai said about Jokic after Game 5.

This is high praise coming from Shai and Jokic deserves all of it as he put the Nuggets on his back on Tuesday night despite them eventually running out of gas in the fourth quarter.

Of course, Jokic has struggled thus far in the series but he was able to turn things around in Game 5 on Tuesday night despite the loss.

Now Jokic and Nuggets will try to keep their season alive on Thursday night in Game 6 as they return home in a must-win situation.
