Three best trade proposals for Jrue Holiday

Using the ESPN Trade Machine to ensure the salaries work, here's a look at potential Holiday trades involving the Celtics, Clippers and 76ers. 

Boston Celtics

The Celtics are the most obvious candidate as they have the need for a point guard and assets to get a deal done. A package centered on guard Malcolm Brogdon and Al Horford makes the most sense. Boston has already tried to trade Brogdon and Horford's role is redundant with the addition of Kristaps Porzingis.

Celtics get: Jrue Holiday

Trail Blazers get: Malcolm Brogdon, Al Horford, Payton Pritchard, 2025 first-round pick (top-10-protected)

The Celtics might be the best fit for Holiday as his defensive prowess would elevate Boston's already-potent perimeter defense, and his playmaking would help fill the void left behind by the loss of Marcus Smart.

For the Trail Blazers, they would get an established veteran guard in Brogdon to mentor their young guard trio of Scoot Henderson, Anfernee Simons and Shaedon Sharpe. Horford would provide another big who can play alongside newly acquired Deandre Ayton, lighten his defensive load and space the floor.

Los Angeles Clippers

The Clippers seem to always be in the mix for stars. The most logical trade package would be centered on the Clippers' young talent of Terrence Mann, Ivica Zubac and Bones Hyland. Marcus Morris Sr. would also have to be in the deal for salary-matching purposes. Los Angeles owns its first-round picks from 2027 onward to sweeten the deal.

Clippers get: Jrue Holiday

Trail Blazers get: Marcus Morris Sr., Terrence Mann, Ivica Zubac, Bones Hyland, 2027 first-round pick (top-three-protected)

Holiday would slot in as starting point guard for the Clippers. A perimeter defense of Kawhi Leonard, Paul George and Holiday would be a nightmare for opponents.

For the Trail Blazers, Zubac would be the perfect backup center for Ayton, Mann is versatile enough to play the 1, 2 or 3 effectively, and Hyland can maintain his role of microwave scorer off the bench.

Philadelphia 76ers

It would be fitting for Holiday to wind up on the team that drafted him in 2009. Tobias Harris is the piece the Sixers are most interested in moving. His salary lines up with Holiday's. Beyond that, the team has few assets it would be willing to part with. 

Tyrese Maxey has already been made "untouchable" by general manager Daryl Morey, and the rest of the team consists of veterans the Trail Blazers would have little interest in acquiring. The Sixers would probably have to throw in multiple draft picks to elevate their offer over the Celtics or Clippers. 

Sixers get: Jrue Holiday

Trail Blazers get: Tobias Harris, Jaden Springer, 2029 first-round pick (unprotected), 2024 second-round pick (via New York Knicks), 2025 second-round pick

Harris would be a competent power forward to play alongside Ayton. The three draft picks would provide the Trail Blazers with assets they can use down the line. The 2029 unprotected first, in particular, could be quite valuable given the uncertainty regarding Joel Embiid's future with the 76ers.

The Trail Blazers should have no shortage of suitors for Holiday, and the team is motivated to deal him sooner rather than later.
