Watch: Karl-Anthony Towns makes huge and-one layup, leads Timberwolves to win

Karl-Anthony Towns had one of the biggest clutch moments of his career Tuesday night on one of the league's brightest stages: Madison Square Garden.

Towns converted a go-ahead and-one layup with just under 30 seconds to go in the Timberwolves' 112-110 win over the Knicks, putting them ahead for good and helping fuel a thrilling late victory.

Trailing 109-108, Towns took the ball at the top of the key, faced up Julius Randle and drove toward the rim. He took two dribbles in before going up with his right hand, drawing contact from Randle and converting the layup as he stumbled back into the crowd.

Towns sunk the ensuing free throw to make it a two-point lead, but Randle drew a foul the next time down for the Knicks. He missed the first and hit the second, though, maintaining the Minnesota lead. New York then sent Patrick Beverley to the line, and he missed his first free throw as well before converting on the second.

Evan Fournier attacked the basket for a game-tying layup with under 10 seconds to go, but was blocked by Jaden McDaniels. Alec Burks got the offensive rebound and put up a three, but it was no good and the game was over.

Towns finished with 20 points, five rebounds and three assists on 6-for-12 from the field and 2-for-4 from beyond the arc. Anthony Edwards added 21 points, three boards and three assists, and D'Angelo Russell chipped in 17 points and four assists.

Fournier led all scorers with 27. Randle finished with 21 points, nine rebounds and nine assists.
