Austin Rivers is coming off a year where he played for the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Over 52 regular season games, he averaged 4.9 points, 1.6 rebounds and 1.4 assists per contest while shooting 43.5% from the field and 35.0% from the three-point range (he also appeared in four NBA playoff games).
This summer, Rivers became a free agent, and he still remains available to be signed by any team in the league on October 6.
Rivers was initially the tenth pick in the 2012 NBA Draft after one season of college basketball playing for Duke.
In addition to the Timberwolves, he has also played for the Los Angeles Clippers, New Orleans Pelicans, Houston Rockets, Denver Nuggets, Washington Wizards and New York Knicks.
Over 11 seasons in the NBA, Rivers has career averages of 8.5 points, 2.0 rebounds and 2.1 assists per contest while shooting 41.9% from the field and 34.9% from the three-point range in 707 regular season games (he has also appeared in 64 NBA playoff games).
Since Rivers is an experienced veteran who is a proven scorer, he could be a fantastic addition to many teams.
In addition, he could likely be signed for a veteran's minimum deal, so there would be no risk in adding him.
As for the Timberwolves, they are coming off a year where they were the eighth seed in the Western Conference with a 42-40 record.
They lost to Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets in the first round of the NBA playoffs in five games.
