49ers GM John Lynch on Jimmy Garoppolo: 'A lot of teams have interest in him'
Following Tuesday's report that Jimmy Garoppolo would be undergoing shoulder surgery "soon," San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch discussed the quarterback on Wednesday morning during Day 2 of the 2022 NFL Scouting Combine.
Garoppolo is among the veteran signal-callers expected to be traded this offseason -- and possibly this month -- along with potentially Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Tuesday that despite the surgery timetable for "Jimmy G," he is "likely" to be moved to another team.
Schefter further said that Garoppolo suffered the injury during the Niners' wild-card playoff win over the Dallas Cowboys and that he is expected to resume throwing around July 4. The former New England Patriot just finished his eighth NFL season and fifth in San Francisco.
In 15 regular-season games last season, Garoppolo finished with 68.3% completion percentage, 3,810 passing yards, 20 passing touchdowns and 12 interceptions, while picking up 51 yards on 38 rushing attempts.
The 49ers are expected to turn to 2021 third-overall pick Trey Lance in the 2022 season and beyond at quarterback.
