Aaron Rodgers details series of events that led to him exiting Eagles game
When Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers left Sunday’s 40-33 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles he was initially thinking worst-case scenario.
The 38-year-old QB revealed on Tuesday’s “The Pat McAfee Show,” that getting medically evaluated was a precautionary measure for he feared he may have fractured ribs or a punctured lung.
“There was an earlier shot in the game that kind of rattled the rib cage,” Rodgers said. “I was trying to stretch some things out at halftime a bit and realized it probably wasn’t some sort of muscle injury. Then I just got hit again in the third quarter and was just having a hard time breathing.
“I pride myself on not coming out of games and I played through a lot of different things over the years. …I was in considerable pain and I just felt like I couldn’t move out there really much at all, and I wanted to go in and make sure it wasn’t something really, really serious.”
Rodgers completed 11 of 16 passes for 140 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions before being replaced in the third quarter by Jordan Love. He had X-rays taken at Lincoln Financial Field to determine if he suffered any rib fractures, but he said after the game that the results were inconclusive.
The four-time NFL MVP stated on Tuesday that he got “good news” from his CT scans on Monday and that he plans on playing Sunday against the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field.
