Adam Thielen reveals how Bryce Young surprised Panthers

Carolina Panthers rookie quarterback Bryce Young continues to earn glowing reviews ahead of his first NFL training camp.

This time it's one of his wide receivers offering praise.

"First overall pick, with all the hype and all that, you know there’s gonna be a lot of potential and you know he’s gonna have a lot of talent," Adam Thielen said about Young during an appearance on "The Rich Eisen Show," per Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk. "But I think he just kinda surprised a lot of guys of how prepared he was for the NFL game...you don’t wanna get too excited in the summer because it’s a different game when you put pads on. But, at the same time, the way he moves in the pocket, the way that he adjusts and can get the ball out on time and accurate and he can make adjustments and things like that. It’s impressive."

Panthers defensive end Brian Burns and cornerback Donte Jackson are among teammates who offered high praise for Young during spring workouts. According to ESPN's David Newton, Burns said that the 21-year-old "put quite a stamp on the locker room" as he leapfrogged veteran Andy Dalton on the depth chart.

"Everybody is here for him,'' wide receiver DJ Chark added about Young, per Newton. "And we believe he can take us to some really high places.''

At this point, there's little question that a healthy Young should start over Dalton when the Panthers open the season at the Atlanta Falcons on Sept. 10. For now, Thielen sounds hyped for the ongoing summer break to end so he can resume catching passes thrown by the first-year pro.

"It gets you excited to get back working together and to really try to start gaining ground," Thielen said about upcoming training camp practices, as shared by Anthony Rizzuti on Panthers Wire/USA Today. "More reps you get, the more confidence you get. And he’s a confident guy, which is exciting to be around."
