Linebacker Jerome Baker took to social media to express his support for his Miami Dolphins teammate after his season officially ended.

Baker underwent surgery Monday after he sustained a wrist injury in the 21-14 loss against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday night and will be out for the playoffs.

"When i step out on the field I give it all for my brothers and the Dolphins organization," Baker posted on X. "Had surgery this morning and it went well. Sad to say my season is over but we not done yet! Be back soon! We have unfinished business to handle and I know my brothers gon handle it!"

Baker appeared to injure his right wrist on Josh Allen's 15-yard scramble to convert a third-and-13 situation on Buffalo's final drive of the game. Baker stayed in for another play before leaving the game for good.

BAKER'S FRUSTRATING SEASON AND UNCERTAIN FUTURE

The injury occurred in Baker's first game after being activated off injured reserve because of the knee injury he sustained in the Week 13 victory against the Washington Commanders.

Baker made his presence felt, most notably with his tackle just outside the goal line on the final play of the first half and also with a blitz that forced Allen to move in the pocket and led to a sack by Melvin Ingram.

Prior to his injury, Baker had missed only one game in his first five NFL seasons.

Baker has been a mainstay on the Dolphins defense since he arrived as a third-round pick in 2018, but his future with the team is uncertain because of his contract and the team's difficult salary-cap outlook for 2024.

The Dolphins will have to make several moves to get under the cap next season given their current commitments, and Baker carries a $14 million cap number (per overthecap.com) and the team could save up to $11 million in cap space by making him a post-June 1 release if they don't restructure his contract to lower his cap number.

Whatever happens for the 2024 season, the way Baker's 2023 season ended certainly was disappointing.
