Bears likely to keep veteran DE Akiem Hicks?

The Chicago Bears gave veteran defensive tackle Akiem Hicks permission to seek a trade, but nothing has materialized.

According to Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune, Hicks is now likely to remain in Chicago for the 2021 campaign:

2021 is the final year of Hicks' four-year, $48 million deal. He'll count for $12 million against the cap, per Over The Cap.

Hicks has spent the past five seasons with the Bears. Last season, the 31-year-old recorded 3.5 sacks, one fumble recovery, 49 tackles and 21 quarterback hits.
