The Chicago Bears announced on Thursday they were releasing defensive back, Eddie Jackson. This announcement came alongside the news of Cody Whitehair's release as well. General Manager Ryan Poles is wasting little time getting the Bears' roster together and is allowing the cut players to seek a new home early.

Eddie Jackson and The Bears

The Chicago Bears selected Eddie Jackson – out of Alabama – 112th overall in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL draft. The 30-year-old defensive back recorded 15 interceptions – three of which he returned for touchdowns – ten forced fumbles and recovered six of them.

Jackson returned three of those six fumble recoveries for touchdowns, has two career sacks, and over 350 solo tackles. He started all 100 games that he appeared in for the Chicago Bears and was nominated for two Pro Bowls.

In 2018, Eddie Jackson had a superb year during a season in which the Bears defense was the talk of the NFL. Jackson's last two pick-sixes came in 2018 and he was also selected to his lone 'First-Team All-Pro'.

This news isn't entirely surprising as it appeared Jackson hinted at his time with the Bears coming to an end last week. With free agency right around the corner, this roster move may not be the last the Bears make before it officially begins in March.
