Even though the Los Angeles Rams have done well to protect their veteran players in training camp and the preseason, they still have several injuries worth monitoring until the 2022 season kicks off.

Matthew Stafford’s elbow pain has been a frequent topic of conversation, while key players like Jalen Ramsey and Leonard Floyd deal with a couple of nagging injuries. The young players on the roster have also got various ailments, including Kyren Williams, Jacob Harris and Van Jefferson.

In the Rams’ preseason win against the Los Angeles Chargers, defensive tackle Bobby Brown III looked to seriously injure his ankle in the fourth quarter. He was unable to put any weight on the leg and had to be assisted off the field.

Head coach Sean McVay later gave an update on Brown, saying he won’t require surgery and will be out at least a few weeks with a sprain, via Stu Jackson of TheRams.com:

McVay also specified defensive tackle Bobby Brown III’s ankle injury as a lateral ankle sprain.

“It will be a few weeks for him, but the good news is that it’s not anything that we anticipate requiring surgery or things like that. So it was positive.”

This is good news for Los Angeles and Brown as things looked serious as soon as he went down. The former fourth-round pick flashed against the Chargers, recording two tackles, one sack and one quarterback hit.

Brown will now likely miss the remainder of training camp, though he’ll have plenty of time to get fully healthy for the 2022 season because he will serve a six-game suspension for violating the NFL’s policy on PEDs. However, when he is ready to go he figures to have a rotational role up front next to Aaron Donald.
