Broncos LT Garett Bolles' promise to Russell Wilson: 'You’re not going to get hit here'

Understandably, much of the chatter as it pertains to the Denver Broncos over the past month or so has been about newly acquired star quarterback Russell Wilson.

Head coach Nathaniel Hackett openly talked about getting the 33-year-old comfortable in his first offense away from the Seattle Seahawks in a decade, and wide receiver Courtland Sutton said earlier this week that "the juice is just different" within the organization now that it has a one-time Super Bowl champion serving as its offensive CEO.

According to Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk, Denver left tackle Garett Bolles explained on Thursday that he FaceTimed with Wilson the night his new QB1 was traded from the Seahawks to the Broncos.

"I know you’re used to getting hit. You’re not going to get hit here," Bolles told Wilson at that time.

The NFL on CBS Twitter account shared why Wilson likely enjoyed hearing that remark:

"I’m going to make sure his jersey stays as clean as possible," Bolles added during his comments.

It was reported in late March that Wilson may not sign an extension with the Broncos before next winter and that the two sides "aren’t in any rush" to put pen to paper on a deal. Wilson likely believes he'll be paid more guaranteed money in 2023 than what he'd earn today if Bolles proves to be a man of his word starting in September.
