Broncos' Courtland Sutton: 'The juice is just different' with Russell Wilson as QB

Denver Broncos wide receiver Courtland Sutton earned his only Pro Bowl nod, to date, in 2019 but then missed the bulk of the subsequent season after he suffered a torn ACL in September 2020. Sutton returned to the lineup last fall and, per ESPN stats, led the Broncos with 776 receiving yards and also contributed 58 catches with two touchdowns while tracking passes thrown by quarterbacks Teddy Bridgewater and Drew Lock.

No disrespect meant to Bridgewater and/or Lock, but Denver upgraded at the sport's most important position last month by acquiring one-time Super Bowl champion signal-caller Russell Wilson from the Seattle Seahawks in a blockbuster trade. As Josh Alper noted for Pro Football Talk, Sutton spoke with reporters Tuesday about what it means to have a player with Wilson's résumé atop the depth chart this spring.

"You all can feel it, we all can feel it," Sutton explained. "The juice is just different. . . . Knowing that we have a guy that has been at the top of that mountain before, has won a Super Bowl before, does know what it’s like to be at the highest level and lead his team to the Super Bowl."

Sutton put pen to paper on a four-year extension reportedly worth up to $60.8 million with $34.9 million guaranteed this past November and will be looking to show he's playing at a discounted rate with Wilson serving as his quarterback this coming fall.
