Broncos OC Pat Shurmur: 'This is the best version of Drew' Lock

When to comes to the Denver Broncos' quarterback competition between Drew Lock and Teddy Bridgewater, it sounds like offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur has been especially impressed with the third-year signal-caller.

Neither QB is coming off of 2020 campaigns to gloat about, each tallying just four wins for the Broncos and Panthers, respectfully. As CBS Sports points out, Lock's familiarity with Denver's playbook could be his advantage over Bridgewater's experience and adaptability.

Bridgewater is also a mixed bag when it comes to consistency under center, especially when injuries rear their ugly heads. He missed two seasons after suffering a serious knee injury and saw a significant dip in production last season after sustaining yet another knee ailment. Bridgewater remains optimistic with regard to recapturing his old form.

Keep in mind, players who stun during training camp do not always translate that success to game day. It's possible Bridgewater could get a better grasp at the starting role than Lock does come Week 1.

For the time being, however, it looks like the Mizzou product is making the bigger impression.
