Broncos' Russell Wilson suffers concussion in loss to Chiefs

Per NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, Russell Wilson suffered a concussion in a  34-28 loss to the Chiefs.

Wilson exited after he converted a third-and-11 for the Broncos, helping them approach the end zone. He took a big hit on the play and fell to the turf. He slowly got up and walked under his own power.

Afterward, he went into the blue tent and locker room, where he received his diagnosis.

Broncos head coach Nathaniel Hackett said Wilson entered concussion protocol in his postgame news conference, which means he needs to be cleared by the Broncos' physician and an independent neurological consultant before he returns to the field.

Per NBC Sports, there is no set timeline, so recoveries can vary, depending on what doctors advise (for more, click here).

It's an unfortunate loss for the Broncos because Wilson had one of his best games this season. He went 23-of-36 for 247 yards passing and threw three touchdowns. He rushed for 57 yards too.

Backup Brett Rypien filled in while Wilson was out. He tossed a touchdown pass to Jerry Jeudy, but he could not lift the Broncos over the Chiefs. He went 4-of-8 and threw a game-sealing interception.

Denver lost its 14th consecutive game to Kansas City and will miss the playoffs for a seventh-straight season.
