Browns interested in former Super Bowl hero

Amid reports that the "ship has sailed" on re-signing defensive end Jadeveon Clowney, the Cleveland Browns reportedly have their eye on another former Pro Bowl rusher.

According to ESPN's Tim McManus, the Browns are interested in Philadelphia Eagles free agent DE Brandon Graham.

Graham might be a little long in the tooth at 34, but he's still playing at a high level. In 2022, Graham posted a career-high 11 sacks a season removed suffering a torn Achilles, which limited him to only two games in 2021.

A 13-year-pro, Graham has spent his entire NFL career with the Eagles and has repeatedly confirmed his desire to remain in Philadelphia until he retires. However, with Fletcher Cox and Javon Hargrave also hitting the free-agent market along the Eagles' defensive line and a massive extension coming quarterback Jalen Hurts' way, the team may be unable to afford the luxury of keeping Graham around.

According to Jared Mueller of Dawgs By Nature, the Browns could be in on Graham and Cox, as both played under new Cleveland defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz while with the Eagles.

Cox, a six-time Pro Bowler, played in all 17 regular season games for the Eagles last season, recording 43 tackles and seven sacks, his most since 2018.

Adding either or both Graham and Cox will be expensive for the Browns. However, both players would bring experience to the Browns' defensive line and offer an invaluable veteran presence to build around standout Myles Garrett.

While it's hard to see Graham or Cox in any other color but midnight green, even cap wizard general manager Howie Roseman may be unable to bring both franchise legends back. Per Spotrac, the Eagles have only $1.2 million in cap space.
