Browns release veteran DT Sheldon Richardson

The Cleveland Browns released veteran defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson, the team announced Friday.

Richardson was due more than $12 million in 2021, and the signing of Jadeveon Clowney, whose cap hit is $8 million next season, made him expendable due to cap constraints.

The 30-year-old spent the last two seasons with the Browns, recording 7.5 sacks, seven pass breakups, four forced fumbles, 126 tackles, nine tackles for a loss and 16 quarterback hits.

It's unclear which teams might be interested in signing Richardson, who has also played for the New York Jets, Minnesota Vikings and Seattle Seahawks.
