The Tampa Bay Buccaneers aren't set to make too many big splash signings in free agency, but there are still a few small signings they can make to shore up areas of need – and some of those signings may look familiar.

The Bucs have been linked to a few different free agents across the board this offseason, and a few of them are players who have already played for Tampa Bay in the past. Bucs cornerback and special teams player Dee Delaney seemed to hint at this on social media, making this cryptic post that seemingly refers to one of those free agents in question returning to Tampa Bay:

There are a few different players that Delaney could be talking about. The two most notable ones are both safeties in Jordan Whitehead and Mike Edwards, two players who have played with Delaney on the defensive side of the ball. Given that Delaney is also a restricted free agent, he could be referring to himself, but that's unlikely.

Whitehead left in free agency two years ago to join up with the New York Jets. He's had a few big games, notably including the first game of the 2023 season where he picked off quarterback Josh Allen three times, but flaws he exhibited in his play in Tampa Bay — struggles with tackling and in pass coverage — have remained. During his two years in New York, he netted six interceptions and 186 combined tackles.

Edwards, meanwhile, left the Bucs in 2023 to play for the Kansas City Chiefs. Edwards didn't start for the Chiefs, but his contributions as a rotational safety helped them to win the Super Bowl for the 2023 season. In his one season with Kansas City, he had one interception with 51 combined tackles on the year.
