Cardinals QB Kyler Murray on facing Seahawks: 'If I can play, I'll play'

The song has largely remained the same as it pertains to the status of Arizona Cardinals star quarterback Kyler Murray since he first sprained his left ankle in the 24-21 loss to the Green Bay Packers back on Oct. 28. Murray has wanted to return to the lineup as soon as possible but was ruled out for the past two contests that Arizona split, and head coach Kliff Kingsbury suggested Monday his QB1 would again be a game-time decision for this coming Sunday's matchup at the Seattle Seahawks.

Per Josh Weinfuss of ESPN, Murray told reporters Wednesday he's "pretty close" to playing at Seattle but added he, Kingsbury and others involved with making the final decision are looking beyond this weekend with the Cardinals sitting at 8-2 overall.

"Understanding what we're really here for," Murray explained about his status against the Seahawks. "Obviously, if you can't go, you can't go and then if you can, you let it ride. I'm not putting too much pressure on the decision to play or not. If I can play, I'll play."

Unsurprisingly, Kingsbury said his verdict won't come until later this week and will depend on how Murray physically responds to participating in practice sessions.

Backup Colt McCoy suffered a pec strain in this past Sunday's 34-10 loss to the Carolina Panthers but, like Murray, practiced Wednesday, according to Myles Simmons of Pro Football Talk. McCoy has gone 1-1 starting in Murray's place.
