Cardinals rule Kyler Murray out for third consecutive game

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray still isn't ready to return from his ankle injury and the team will turn to Colt McCoy to start for a third consecutive week. Murray was declared inactive by the Cardinals for a Week 11 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks after practicing on a limited basis leading up the game.

Murray, 24, suffered the injury in the final minutes of a 24-21 loss to the Green Bay Packers. Through eight games, Murray had 17 passing touchdowns, seven interceptions, and three rushing touchdowns. His 72.7 completion percentage is still the highest in the NFL in 2021 among starters.

In Murray's absence, McCoy has led the Cardinals to a 1-1 record with 356 passing yards, one touchdown, and one interception. On Sunday, he'll face a Seahawks defense that has allowed the second most yards per game in the NFL, behind only the New York Jets.

Five-time Pro Bowl wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins has also been out of action since the Cardinals' loss to the Packers. He's inactive for a third consecutive week as well due to a hamstring injury. Unlike Murray who was ruled as questionable to play, Hopkins did not practice this week and was ruled out on Friday.

After starting the season 7-0, two losses in the last three weeks for Arizona opened the door in the NFC West. However, the Los Angeles Rams lost back-to-back games to fall to 7-3 and sit a game behind the Cardinals for the division lead.
