The Arizona Cardinals no longer employ the talents of cornerback Marco Wilson after his release earlier this week.

It was a long time coming for both sides, apparently.

“We feel good about the guys in the room. Respect Marco. He handled himself like a pro, but I feel good about moving forward," said head coach Jonathan Gannon on Wilson's release.

“There’s (only) so many spots, so to get some guys up and playing and the roster construction of all that, we just felt like it was best for the team for this week moving forward.”

Wilson was made a fourth-round pick by Arizona in the 2021 NFL Draft. He was claimed by the New England Patriots off waivers while the Tennessee Titans and Denver Broncos showed interest in the Wilson, too.

“Wish Marco the best,” Cardinals defensive coordinator Nick Rallis said. “I think he’s a good player.”

Arizona will now move forward with Antonio Hamilton, Garrett Williams, Kei'Trel Clark and Starling Thomas on the boundary.

Wilson slowly saw his playing time decrease in 2023, playing at least 98% of defensive snaps in the first seven weeks of the season before seeing his percentages decrease from 91%, 82%, 76% and 75% before not playing a single snap the final four weeks he was in the desert.
