Carson Wentz has sprained both ankles, coach confirms
Indianapolis Colts head coach Frank Reich said Monday that quarterback Carson Wentz sprained both of his ankles in Sunday's loss to the LA Rams, ESPN reported.
It has yet to be reported how severe the sprains are.
Wentz was injured in the fourth quarter of Sunday's game after he was tackled by Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald and had his leg pinned to the ground. The 28-year-old quarterback limped off the field, initially thinking he had injured only one ankle.
"Felt it right away," Wentz told the media afterward. "Did not feel good. Tried to tape it up, do everything I could to get out there and finish the game."
With the severity of the injuries unknown, it's still unclear whether Wentz will be able to play in next week's game against the Tennessee Titans or if Jacob Eason will have to start under center. Eason entered Sunday's game in Wentz's absence and completed two of five passes for 25 yards and threw an interception.
This is just the latest ailment in Wentz's injury-laden career and not even his first as a member of the Colts. Wentz, who signed with Indy during the offseason, sustained a foot injury in July and was questionable to start the season.
