Chargers reportedly sign TE Gerald Everett to two-year, $12M contract

After spending the first four seasons of his NFL career with the Los Angeles Rams, tight end Gerald Everett signed a one-year, $6 million deal with the Seattle Seahawks in March 2021. On Sunday, one day shy of the one-year anniversary of his leaving L.A., Everett is reportedly headed back to La-La Land, but not to the same team.

Everett is coming off of a 2021 campaign in which he set career-highs across the board in targets (63), receptions (48), receiving yards (478) and receiving touchdowns (four). The 27-year-old was third on the team in each of the four categories, trailing only stud wide receivers D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett.

During his time with the Rams, Everett played in 61 contests, but only made 11 starts and often split snaps with fellow tight end Tyler Higbee, who has been with Los Angeles since being drafted by the organization in 2016. Last year with Seattle, backup tight end Will Dissly finished with less than half of Everett's targets (26), receptions (21), receiving yards (231) and receiving touchdowns (one).

The Atlanta, Georgia native will be joining one of the most explosive offenses in the league with the Chargers. Quarterback Justin Herbert's receiving crew also includes five-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Keenan Allen, newly-re-signed wideout Mike Williams and dynamic pass-catching running back Austin Ekeler among others.
