Another member of the Kansas City Chiefs is facing legal trouble over allegations of animal cruelty.

Isaiah Buggs, a former standout defensive lineman at Alabama, is facing animal cruelty charges in Tuscaloosa. The charges stem from officers finding a pit bull and a Rottweiler mix caged in a home without access to food or water. The dogs were described as “malnourished, emaciated and neglected,” and were seized by authorities on March 28.

The home in which the dogs were found appeared to be abandoned and the dogs had been there for at least 10 days, according to a neighbor. Buggs was identified as the renter of the home in question.

Buggs has denied the allegations, with his agent claiming that the defensive lineman is the victim of an attempt by the city of Tuscaloosa to hurt his reputation over a business dispute.

A sixth-round pick in 2019, Buggs joined the Chiefs practice squad in January. He signed a reserve/future contract with the team in February.

The Chiefs’ offseason has been marred by issues surrounding wide receiver Rashee Rice, who is in significant legal trouble following a Dallas car crash in late March.
