Chiefs LB blasts Bills Mafia for throwing snowballs

With a significant amount of snow hitting Highmark Stadium in recent weeks, fans of the Buffalo Bills have found themselves using snowballs to both celebrate and express their frustration over their two playoff games.

Following their crushing loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC divisional round on Sunday night, star quarterback Patrick Mahomes was among those dodging snowballs being thrown by members of Bills Mafia.

Another Kansas City player who was apparently the target of the home team fans' displeasure was linebacker Drue Tranquill.

The 28-year-old posted on social media late Sunday night that he nearly hurled a snowball back into the crowd, and also used his four-year-old child to compare how weak the fans' efforts evidently were.

Tranquill is in his fifth NFL season and first with the Chiefs. He spent 2019-2022 with the Los Angeles Chargers, finishing with career highs (and team bests) last season in combined tackles (146) and solo tackles (95), while posting career-best marks in tackles for loss (10), quarterback hits (eight), sacks (5.0) and passes defended (four) as well.

Tranquill also recorded his first career interception and forced fumble in the 2022 regular season and added five tackles, one pass defended and one interception in the Chargers' lone playoff game. He then signed with Kansas City in March 2023.

The Notre Dame product's playing time dropped this season, but he still appeared in 16 games (eight starts) and tied for second on the team with two forced fumbles and ranked tied for third in combined tackles (78) and tackles for loss (seven). Tranquill had a big performance in the team's win against Buffalo, finishing with four solo tackles, including one tackle for loss.
