Chiefs players downplay 'Burrowhead' banter

The Chiefs aren't biting on banter about "Burrowhead."

During Sunday's win over the Bills, Bengals cornerback Mike Hilton referred to Kansas City's Arrowhead Stadium as "Burrowhead" — a reference to Cincinnati QB Joe Burrow.

In the 2022 AFC title game at Arrowhead Stadium, the third-year QB beat the Chiefs, 27-24. On Dec. 4 in Cincinnati, the Bengals beat the Chiefs by the same score. Burrow is 3-0 against Kansas City.

"Those guys are having fun since they won the game, but we're going to just let our play on the field speak for us," Kansas City safety Justin Reid said Wednesday.

Before the Dec. 4 game, Reid caused a stir when he mistakenly called Bengals tight end Hayden Hurst the wrong name (h/t: Cleveland.com). Bengals players took it as disrespect.

On the "New Heights With Jason and Travis Kelce" podcast this week, the Chiefs' tight end responded to "Burrowhead" banter with tame comments.

"They are throwing a lot of bulletin-board material out there," Travis Kelce said about the Bengals and their fans.

Kelce said Kansas City fans may have to break the noise record at Arrowhead on Sunday.

In a 2014 game against the Patriots, fans at Arrowhead Stadium set the record for loudest stadium in the world.
