The Kansas City Chiefs are bringing back a familiar face on the practice squad just days after releasing him from the 53-man roster

Veteran LB Darius Harris is officially back with the Chiefs following his release on Saturday. Harris was poached from the Raiders' practice squad when Nick Bolton was first injured. He was a gameday active for Kansas City from Week 9 through Week 14, but he didn't record any stats during that time. That's mainly because he didn't play any snaps on defense and 71 snaps on special teams.

It's not surprising to see Harris return to Kansas City in some capacity following his stint on the 53-man roster. He's appeared in 33 career regular-season games with the Chiefs, including six starts, amassing 58 total tackles, three tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, two fumble recoveries and two passes batted. He also has six postseason appearances under his belt with Kansas City as well. He has a Super Bowl ring to show for it.

Harris knows both Steve Spagnuolo's and Dave Toub's systems. He's worn the green dot for the defense before. He's valuable depth for the Chiefs in a position group that has seen some attrition this year. If something were to happen in the next three games ahead of the playoffs, the team is in a much better spot with him than they would be without him.

The practice squad is now full for Kansas City, but keep in mind that we're approaching the time of the year when teams are beginning to think about the future. The Chiefs could be looking at some other players for reserve/future signings soon.
