It can be a tough pill to swallow for anybody to lose their job, especially a veteran who likely is done playing in the National Football League.

It's a business, and a tough one at that. Former Arizona Cardinals quarterback Colt McCoy found out that out once again when the team parted ways with the quarterback ahead of the regular season after a less than stellar audition in exhibition games.

McCoy - appearing on the Pat McAfee Show today - said he has no hard feelings towards the organization:

"Listen, Gannon's a great dude. I think that whole staff - Monti [Ossenfort] leading the front office as the new GM hiring Gannon and his staff - they're all really, really good people. I know they released me, but I think any time you have a new staff and new regime you have to give them time to do what they want to do and get their people in there," he said.

"I've unfortunately been through coaching changes a lot in my career. I was there to play for Kliff [Kingsbury] and [Steve] Keim and for that staff. I would have loved to stay and lead the way until Kyler got healthy this year but I totally get it. I'm good with it. I know what that's like, I've been around long enough. I'm a vet."

McCoy turned 37-years-old in September. Arizona traded for Josh Dobbs while Murray was rehabbing a torn ACL before shortly releasing McCoy after.

"I think Gannon's a really good coach. He came in and he set the expectations and made it very clear to everybody what their goals are, how we're going to do it, what it's going to look like day-to-day," said McCoy.

"I know that Gannon has a picture of what the Arizona Cardinals team needs to look like, and he's on his way. They had a huge win last week, they've been competitive. ... I'm bullish on the Cardinals. I think they're a good staff. I think they'll figure it out. Again, I have no hard feelings - I love the game. I know where they wanted to go. My elbow was banged up and I get it, but I'll always love the Cardinals."
