The Athletic's Dianna Russini reports that the Washington Commanders are expected to sign San Francisco 49ers defensive end Clelin Ferrell. The move for the unrestricted free agent can become official on Wednesday, at the start of the new league year.
The then-Oakland Raiders drafted Ferrell (6-4, 265) out of Clemson with the No. 4 overall pick in 2019. He registered 28 tackles, six tackles for a loss, 13 quarterback hits, 3.5 sacks, a pass defensed, and a forced fumble through 17 starts with the 49ers this past season, per Pro Football Reference.
Ferrell, 26, has recorded 133 tackles, 21 tackles for a loss, 45 quarterback hits, 13.5 sacks, 12 passes defensed, and three forced fumbles in 75 game appearances (47 starts) through his five NFL seasons.
