Cowboys' Micah Parsons offers bold claim about Eagles

Cowboys star pass-rusher Micah Parsons believes the Cowboys can spring past the Eagles and become a Super Bowl favorite.

"It's our turn this year," Parsons recently said of Dallas' rivalry with Philadelphia, per Scott Thompson of Fox news. "You gotta capitalize on opportunities, and this is our year."

Last season the Cowboys were one of the best teams in the NFL, finishing with a 12-5 record and earning a second consecutive playoff berth. Yet the Eagles went 14-3, won the NFC East and made Super Bowl LVII.

Although Philadelphia had a deeper postseason run, there isn't a massive disparity between the NFC East rivals. Last season, they split the divisional series. Dallas lost 26-17 in Week 6 without QB Dak Prescott, who had a fractured right thumb. Philadelphia lost 40-34 in Week 16 when QB Jalen Hurts was sidelined with a shoulder injury.

Consequently, the Eagles don't intimidate Dallas DE DeMarcus Lawrence, and he also believes the Cowboys can catch them.

"I don't feel like it's a huge gap at all," Lawrence recently said of the difference between Dallas and Philadelphia on the "AP Pro Football Podcast."

In the eyes of oddsmakers, the Eagles are still a better team than the Cowboys. Per OddsChecker, Philadelphia has the second-best chance of winning the Super Bowl, while Dallas has the sixth-best.

However, the Cowboys upgraded their roster this offseason, acquiring WR Brandin Cooks and CB Stephon Gilmore in blockbuster trades, which could place them in the same tier as the Eagles.

Regardless, Dallas will continue to focus on elevating over Philadelphia as it tries to end its 27-year championship drought.
