Demand for Tom Brady memorabilia expected to skyrocket after retirement

Tom Brady says he is retired for good this time, and now that the future Hall of Famer has called it a career there is already a huge increase in demand for his memorabilia. 

PWWC marketplace told TMZ Sports on Thursday that since Brady's announcement this week they have seen a surge in searches for Brady merchandise, with his name being the most searched athlete on their site. By comparison, he was ranked 10th before his retirement announcement. 

Along with buyers searching for Brady merchandise, sellers also seem to be capitalizing on the news and increased demand. 

One seller already contacted the marketplace and is interested in auctioning off a Brady rookie card (2000 Brady Bowman Chrome Refractor Rookie) that is expected to sell for six figures. 

In November of 2021 a similar card sold for over $300,000 ahead of what was expected for Brady's first retirement. 

Brady merchandise is always going to be a hot item given his legendary career. And now that he is done playing it is understandable that collectors and fans will want to get their hands on anything they can. 

Some recent Brady items that have sold for huge prices include a rare signed rookie card that went for $2.4 million back in October, as well as the football from the "final" touchdown pass of his career in the 2021 season. The latter sale, however, was voided when Brady decided to return for one more season. 

Sotheby's auction house has a handful of Brady items up for auction on its site, including a signed pair of game-used cleats that have a starting bid of $70,000, and a signed ticket stub from the 2001 game where Brady relieved an injured Drew Bledsoe to start his career as the Patriots' starting quarterback. That has a current bid of $9,000 and is expected to go for somewhere between $10,000 and $20,000 when the auction concludes.
