The Detroit Lions announced a flurry of roster moves, ahead of their road contest against the Dallas Cowboys.

After practice Thursday, the team officially announced defensive back Chase Lucas and linebacker Trevor Nowaske had been waived.

Fullback Jason Cabinda, who has been on injured reserve since Week 4, has been activated.

As a result, Detroit currently has one open roster spot available.

Detroit's front office has a myriad of options to fill the vacant roster position.

The team could decide to sign a veteran defender to the roster, or they could decide to add kicker Michael Badgley to the active roster.

Badgley and veteran linebacker Bruce Irvin still have one opportunity to be elevated remaining. The team could also elevate veteran defensive lineman Tyson Alualu against the Cowboys.

Detroit will announce the practice squad decisions this weekend, and could also make their decision official regarding who takes the final roster spot available.

Lucas, a second-year defender out of Arizona State has played in 18 career games for the Lions, including 12 this season. He has predominately a special teamer and has not logged snaps on defense this season according to Pro Football Focus.

According to NFL Network, the Lions are hoping to add Lucas to their practice squad, if he clears waivers.

The young defensive back was initially waived during the preseason, but was signed to the active roster from the practice squad after Gardner-Johnson suffered his injury.

Lucas was a seventh-round pick of the organization in 2022 and played in six games last season. He notched three special teams tackles this season and has played a total of 230 special teams snaps.

The Lions and Cowboys will square off at 8:15 p.m. Saturday in primetime on ABC.
