Dolphins HC Mike McDaniel on overreactions to Week 1: 'We're either crowned, or we suck'
Miami Dolphins first-year head coach Mike McDaniel has already made himself known for providing interesting soundbites during interviews with members of the media this offseason. On Monday, when discussing the Week 1 head-to-head matchup against legendary coach Bill Belichick of the New England Patriots, McDaniel quipped " could there be a bigger disparity in career win/loss totals?"
As Sunday's tilt between the Dolphins and Patriots is now under 100 hours away, the former San Francisco 49ers offensive coordinator was at it again on Wednesday, giving an interesting perspective on what the start of the campaign means to him.
Miami fans know all about slow starts, as the team lost seven straight games from Weeks 2 through 8 last year to fall to 1-7, before winning eight of their final nine contests to nearly make the postseason. The Dolphins opened up last year with a 17-16 win over the Patriots.
McDaniel's club is favored over their AFC East foes for the first time since 2013 in the season-opener.
