Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa downgraded to doubtful vs. Jets
The Miami Dolphins will likely be without Tua Tagovailoa on Sunday, which isn't necessarily a big deal given the fact they'll be facing the winless New York Jets and have a capable Ryan Fitzpatrick waiting in the wings.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Tagovailoa has been downgraded to doubtful for Sunday's game after being limited in practice nearly all week with a thumb injury.
Tagovailoa jammed his thumb on a teammate's helmet during practice and was initially listed as questionable before being downgraded.
The 22-year-old had been playing well through four weeks, going 3-1 with six touchdown passes against no interceptions. However, Fitzpatrick replaced him last weekend against the Broncos and played better.
Fitzpatrick went 3-3 as the team's starter before Brian Flores replaced him with Tagovailoa. In 13 career games against the Jets, Fitzpatrick is 6-7, so it appears he'll have the opportunity to even his record against Adam Gase's squad on Sunday and even get Miami its seventh win of the season.
