Fanatics files lawsuit against Marvin Harrison Jr.

Marvin Harrison Jr.'s NFL career hasn't even truly started and the wide receiver is finding himself in trouble.

According to Adam Schefter, Fanatics filed a lawsuit in the New York Supreme Court against the rookie for breach of contract.

According to Schefter, Harrison’s team stated that the wide receiver has no contract while the lawsuit claims the two sides have a signed an autograph agreement dating back to last May worth more than $1 million.

Harrison is currently selling signed memorabilia through The Official Harrison Collection website. Items include autographed photos, jerseys, and helmets. The site states that it is "the ONLY website to purchase signed Harrison memorabilia."

Fanatics claims that Harrison told the retailer that a "larger competitor" had made an offer to him while other trading card companies have made "competing" offers, as well in the suit. The suit also claims that Harrison has "demanded" Fanatics meet or exceed the alleged offers which have not been provided to Fanatics, per the suit.

According to the suit and ensuing report from ESPN, Fanatics and Harrison's relationship began in 2023, when Harrison was still at Ohio State. In March 2023, Fanatics signed Harrison to a limited promotion and license agreement that was nonexclusive and ended in April 2024, before last month's NFL Draft, the suit claims.

The suit states that negotiations regarding a "more substantive" deal began in April of 2023. A month later the two sides agreed to a binding term sheet on May 16, 2023, that was finalized two days later.

While Fanatics claims in the suit that Harrison Jr. was paid in August and October of 2023, the company accuses Harrison of refusing to fulfill obligations despite several requests from Fanatics in recent months. The company also asserts in the suit that Harrison disclosed confidential information about his contract to ESPN.

Fanatics has requested a jury trial and estimates damages to be in the "millions of dollars."
