Green Bay Packers wide receiver Allen Lazard Raj Mehta-USA TODAY Sports

Week 1 is just around the corner and the Packers have some injury questions. Up until now, the only information we have gotten is from head coach Matt LaFleur in press conferences. With the season on upon us, teams now have to disclose injuries which gives us some insight into what is happening with certain players. Here are some insights from the first Packers injury report.

Allen Lazard‘s Injury Status Reveal

Allen Lazard was the only one that did not practice at all . He is officially being listed with an ankle injury. It was reported earlier that he had been stepped on. It is unclear who stepped on him or the nature of how it happened but it is severe enough for him to be held out of practice. The Packers have high hopes for Lazard, so this is concerning. If he cannot go, look for Romeo Doubs to get more looks opposite Sammy Watkins on the outside.

Limited Participants

Both David Bakhtiari and Elgton Jenkins were listed as limited. However, it is positive to see them practicing the Wednesday before Week 1. There are still a couple of more days and Bakhtiari has hinted that he wants to play Week 1. Darnell Savage has been dealing with the hamstring injury he suffered on Family Night. The Packers have been cautious, but this is one to watch. Rasul Douglas played some safety in one practice and if Savage cannot go, the Packers might try that again. Robert Tonyan also was limited but he also seems to be tracking well to play soon. The first Packers injury report shed some insight into exactly how on track these players are to play Sunday.

Full Participants

There were a couple of names on the full participants list that should make Packers fans excited. Mason Crosby was a full participant and is on track to play Week 1. While he had a rough year last year, Crosby has a career percentage of 80% and I expect him to get back to that this season. A big surprise was rookie Christian Watson, who could take on more of a role if Lazard cannot. We have not seen anything from Watson in the preseason but Aaron Rodgers and others have gushed about Watson’s skill set. It would be great to see him on the field and it looks as though his injury is behind him.

There is still time for the limited participants to upgrade status for Sunday. The good news is that the Packers seem to be getting healthier. The Lazard injury is worrying but the Packers do not seem concerned about it. The first Packers injury report gave us some insight and now we will watch future ones throughout the week before Sunday.
