Football from Tom Brady's 'last' touchdown pass to hit auction

In the eyes of some, if not many, it remains at least a little unclear if Tom Brady is truly retired as an active NFL player or if he could be convinced to join an organization other than the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at some point this spring or summer. It does, however, seem apparent that Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans needs to stop giving touchdown passes he catches away to fans for the foreseeable future.

According to Tom VanHaaren of ESPN, an anonymous fan who obtained the football Brady threw for his alleged final touchdown during Tampa Bay's playoff loss to the Los Angeles Rams is placing that historic item up for auction with Lelands Auctions on Sunday.

The previously mentioned Evans, who mistakenly handed the ball associated with Brady's 600th career touchdown pass to a spectator this past fall, threw this ball linked with what stands as Brady's last score into the stadium crowd with 3:20 remaining to play in the contest held on Jan. 23.

"Retirement was the first thing we thought of," the seller told ESPN about this decision. "Since then, we thought maybe we don't retire, but it's a nice nest egg for when we do. Whatever happens, I would love to have as many people see the football and for it go in the Hall of Fame on display.

"It should go somewhere everybody can enjoy it; it's a piece of history."

It may be a piece of "history" when all is said and done if there is any merit behind rumors suggesting Brady could ultimately be serving as QB1 for the San Francisco 49ers this September. Truth be told, the uncertainty surrounding Brady's plans makes selling the ball before the upcoming Super Bowl a brilliant "just in case" business decision.
