Former Broncos Pro Bowler disagrees with Sean Payton's Nathaniel Hackett comments

Miami Dolphins linebacker Bradley Chubb said Friday that he disagreed with Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton's recent comments on Nathaniel Hackett.

Chubb spent the first four-plus seasons of his NFL career with Denver, before being traded to Miami in November 2022.

Hackett was hired as the Broncos head coach last offseason but was fired following the team's Week 16 blowout loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Christmas Day, and the group ended the campaign in last place in the AFC West at 5-12.

Payton's criticism of the New York Jets and their new offensive coordinator became public on Thursday. Among the notable words during the interview with USA Today's Jarrett Bell were Payton saying that Hackett's performance during the 2022 campaign "might have been one of the worst coaching jobs in the history of the NFL."

The former Super Bowl champion coach with the New Orleans Saints was officially hired as the new man in Denver in early February.

Chubb isn't the only player to disagree with the comments, as Jets offensive lineman Billy Turner lashed out at Payton on social media on Thursday. In his post, Turner wrote "Seems like someone Started training Camp and is trying to soften the blow after realizing what he's in for this season. F***ing Bum. #BountyGate #childish"

The tackle played two-plus seasons with the Broncos from 2016-18 and had a second stint with the club in 2022. In between his two runs, Turner played under Hackett (during a previous offensive coordinator gig) and alongside quarterback Aaron Rodgers and a host of other former Green Bay Packers from 2019-21.

Denver will host New York in Week 5 on Oct. 8.
