Four-time Pro Bowl WR T.Y. Hilton returns to Colts on one-year deal

Wide receiver T.Y. Hilton will only be catching TD passes this fall for the NFL team that drafted him.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Hilton will remain with the Indianapolis Colts on a one-year deal that could be worth up to $10 million with $8 million guaranteed. The 31-year-old tested free agency for one week but ultimately agreed to play a 10th consecutive season for the club that selected him in the third round of the 2012 NFL Draft.

Hilton confirmed his return via Twitter:

There are concerns among observers that Hilton's best days are behind him. As noted by an ESPN piece, the veteran has missed nine regular-season games over the past three seasons, and his production dipped by his standards across his last 25 contests. He finished the 2020 campaign with 56 receptions for 762 yards and five touchdowns.

Per Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk, Hilton is third in franchise career receiving yards behind only Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne.

Hilton is a four-time Pro Bowl receiver who will now be tasked with helping quarterback Carson Wentz relaunch his career after the Colts officially acquired him in a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles at the start of the new NFL year on March 17.
