Free-agent WR Malik Turner visits with Cardinals
The Dallas Cowboys officially began the new league year earlier this month by trading wide receiver Amari Cooper to the Cleveland Browns and then lost fellow receiver Cedrick Wilson Jr. to the Miami Dolphins in free agency.
A different member of Dallas' 2021 passing attack is also on track to play elsewhere later this year. Per ESPN’s Field Yates, the Arizona Cardinals hosted wide receiver Malik Turner for a visit on Wednesday.
Turner originally entered the NFL when he signed with the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent in 2018 but most recently has been attached to the Cowboys over the past two years. According to Pro-Football-Reference, the 26-year-old appeared in 20 total regular-season games for the Cowboys over the previous two campaigns, and he recorded 12 catches for 149 yards and three touchdowns during the 2021 season.
Even though the Cowboys could be without Michael Gallup for multiple September contests as he recovers from the torn ACL in his left knee he suffered back on Jan. 2, ESPN's Todd Archer noted on Tuesday that Turner "is not expected" to return to the Cowboys.
Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk reports this is Turner's first visit of the current free-agency period.
