Giants' Daniel Jones already texting new targets about workouts

The New York Giants paid Daniel Jones like a franchise quarterback, and he's acting like one ahead of the springtime months.

"Daniel actually texted me as well [Thursday]. He told me he was a big fan of my game for a long time," new Giants wide receiver Parris Campbell said during his introductory news conference on Friday, as shared by Ryan Chichester of Audacy. "That got me excited. I’m a huge fan of his game and how he took the step to get better each and every year of his career. If you ask anybody, you can see his development and how he took control and commanded this offense. He did great things last year. He got what he deserved, and I’m so happy for him."

Jordan Raanan of ESPN reported Thursday that the Giants were signing Campbell to a one-year deal that could be worth up to $6.7M with $3M fully guaranteed. Jones and New York previously agreed to a four-year contract that could be worth up to $160M and includes an additional $35M in incentives.

Bob Brookover of NJ Advance Media noted that Jones wasn't in the Giants' facility to greet new linebacker Bobby Okereke on Thursday. It seems the signal-caller is busy with other matters.

"I'm actually out in Arizona training for the offseason, and he was like, 'I gotta get out to Arizona, let’s get to work.' That’s what you want," Campbell continued about Jones. "You’re a new guy coming in, a new piece to the offense, and your quarterback is already like, 'Let’s go, let’s get some work together.' That’s just so welcoming and so promising."

Jones is coming off the best pro season, to date, of his career, one that involved him routinely playing without having a true No. 1 receiver in his offense. General manager Joe Schoen has done well to help his QB1 by acquiring talents like Campbell and tight end Darren Waller, and it sounds like Jones is eager to build some chemistry with his new teammates as soon as possible.
