Giants reportedly agree on three-year deal with Ravens DC Don 'Wink' Martindale for same role

First-year head coach Brian Daboll's staff continues to fill out with the New York Giants.

The G-Men announced both Joe Schoen as their new general manager and Daboll as their new head coach in January before securing former Kansas City Chiefs quarterbacks coach Mike Kafka as their next offensive coordinator last week.

Though they lost defensive coordinator Patrick Graham to the Las Vegas Raiders recently and interviewed other candidates such as Steve Wilks for the role, Martindale will bring 17 years of NFL coaching experience -- plus 11 from the college game -- to New York.

The Dayton, Ohio, native started coaching in 1986 and after various jobs with five different college programs, Martindale earned his first taste of the NFL as the then-Oakland Raiders inside linebackers coach in 2004. He worked with the Raiders' linebackers crew for five seasons before taking that some role with the Denver Broncos in 2009.

Martindale was promoted to defensive coordinator of the Broncos in 2010 and joined the Ravens as their inside linebackers coach in 2012. He held that title for four years before being named linebackers coach, where he stayed for the 2016 and 2017 campaigns, and he served as Baltimore's defensive coordinator each of the past four years.
