Raiders to interview Giants DC Patrick Graham for same role

Recently hired New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll said earlier this week that he was hoping to retain the team's defensive coordinator, Patrick Graham. Daboll's choice is apparently a hot commodity, though, as Graham reportedly had interviews with two other teams on Friday.

Following a 10-7 year that saw the midseason dismissal of Jon Gruden as head coach, the Raiders advanced to the playoffs under interim leader Rich Bisaccia but fell to the AFC-champion Cincinnati Bengals in the wild-card round. They recently hired former New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels as their new head coach and interviewed former Chicago Bears defensive coordinator Sean Desai for the same post on Thursday.

The Giants have had a busy couple of weeks, poaching both Daboll and former Buffalo Bills assistant general manager Joe Schoen from Western New York for the head-coaching and GM roles, respectively. It was also reported on Thursday that "Big Blue" was expected to hire Kansas City Chiefs quarterbacks coach Mike Kafka for their vacant offensive coordinator post.

Graham worked with the Patriots in various roles from 2009 to 2015, before joining the Giants as their defensive line coach for the 2016 and 2017 seasons. He was the Green Bay Packers' linebackers coach/running coordinator in 2018 and the Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator in 2019, before rejoining the Giants in 2020 as their defensive coordinator.
