Head coach Andy Reid rejoins Chiefs after brief hospital stay

The Kansas City Chiefs surprisingly fell to 1-2 on the season via this past Sunday's loss to the Los Angeles Chargers but generated headlines soon after that result when it was learned that head coach Andy Reid had been transported to a local hospital after he felt ill.

Reid was released from the hospital Monday, and NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported Tuesday the popular 63-year-old was back working at the club's facility.

The Chiefs initially offered no specifics on Reid's condition, but ESPN's Dan Graziano (h/t Adam Teicher) later reported the Super Bowl LIV champion head coach was treated for dehydration. Reid remained on the sideline through the completion of Sunday's defeat and addressed his players in the locker room afterward before he reported feeling unwell and was evaluated by the team's medical staff.

Kansas City running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire said he didn't even know anything was wrong with his coach immediately after the Week 3 matchup.

Pelissero's update suggests Reid will be in attendance for Wednesday's practice and, barring any setbacks, for this coming Sunday's contest at the 1-2 Philadelphia Eagles.

Earlier in the day, the Chiefs reportedly officially signed recently reinstated former All-Pro wide receiver Josh Gordon.
