Impressed veteran gives unique description of Steelers rookie
The Steelers had what is believed to be one of the best draft classes in the NFL this year and one of their rookies has already left an impression on veteran defensive lineman Larry Ogunjobi.
"I like [Keeanu Benton] a lot. He is like a dancing bear," Ogunjobi said. "He moves really, really well for that size. I think the ceiling is super high for him."
Benton, Pittsburgh's second second-round pick, understands that Ogunjobi, who is "one of the quieter guys," doesn't just hand out compliments.
"That is an honor that he said that," Benton responded. "I feel like I am pretty agile for my size. Just kind of that wrestling background helps out a little bit. That is a great compliment that I got. I still have more work to do."
The 6-foot-4, 309-pound Wisconsin product can play anywhere along the defensive line but is joining one of the more talented defensive lines in the league with the likes of Ogunjobi and Cameron Heyward.
The 21-year-old is bringing some much-needed youth to the Steelers' aging defensive line and may see playing time right away at nose tackle.
Benton will have to battle with defensive linemen Armon Watts and Breiden Fehoko for the starting job, but Benton certainly brings a much higher upside.
It is still early into the summer but if Benton is already impressing Pittsburgh's veterans, it's probably a safe bet that he will see some early action as a rookie.
