Jaguars cut kicker Josh Lambo

The Jacksonville Jaguars entered their Week 6 matchup against the Miami Dolphins with no field goals made and no wins on the season. Thanks in large part to Matthew Wright, the Jags changed both of those facts on Sunday, as the 25-year-old booted through a trio of three-pointers, including the game-winner as the game clock expired, and Jacksonville pulled out a 23-20 victory.

Now, after spending most of the last four-plus seasons with the same kicker, Jacksonville is making a permanent move to Wright and moving on from Josh Lambo.

After spending the 2015 and 2016 seasons with the then-San Diego Chargers, Lambo signed with the Jags midway through the 2017 campaign. In 46 career games with Jacksonville, Lambo went 76-for-83 on field goals -- good for 91.6% -- and made all 48 of his attempts from under 40 yards out.

Lambo converted 12 of his 15 attempts from 50 yards away or greater and made 73 of his 81 extra point tries. The 30-year-old struggled through the team's first three games this season, going 0-for-3 on his field goal tries and just 5-for-7 on extra point attempts.

Wright, five years Lambo's junior at 25, was the kicker for the University of Central Florida football team from 2015 through 2018 and has made six of his seven extra point attempts thus far.
