Jaguars interviewing Dolphins DBs coach Gerald Alexander for DC job
Gerald Alexander spent nearly half of his NFL playing career with the Jacksonville Jaguars. More than a decade later, the AFC South squad may now be looking to bring back the now-37-year-old.
After being selected by the Detroit Lions in the second round of the 2007 NFL Draft, Alexander had arguably what would be his best pro season. That year, the Boise State product posted a career-high 81 tackles while recording the only two sacks of his career, plus two fumble recoveries and two interceptions.
Alexander was limited to five games in 2008 and was then traded to Jacksonville in July 2009. In 15 games with the Jaguars in 2009, he registered 55 tackles, five passes defended, a career-best three forced fumbles and two interceptions.
He was released by Jacksonville in October 2010 after three games and was signed by the Carolina Panthers, playing two contests with the NFC South team that season. Alexander played in three more NFL games with the Miami Dolphins and New York Jets in 2011, and was released for the final time in March 2012.
Alexander has spent the last near-decade as a coach with five different college programs (Arkansas State, Washington, Indiana State, Montana State, California) and three NFL teams (Dolphins, Tennessee Titans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers).
