Jalen Reeves-Maybin is an example of the Detroit Lions philosophy of rewarding players who make significant contributions to their roster.

With increased salary cap funds available, it was an easy decision for general manager Brad Holmes to reward the 29-year with a lucrative extension.

A special teams ace who also earned time playing at linebacker, the talented defender will spend the next two seasons in Motown, after securing a two-year contract extension.

Reeves-Maybin, a 2017 fourth-round pick, was named to the second-team All-Pro squad in 2023.

The veteran tied for the NFL lead with 14 special teams tackles.

He was elected to his first Pro Bowl, as he recorded 20 tackles and one sack in Aaron Glenn's defense.

"Yeah, he does do everything for us, and more importantly to me, he takes guys aside when he needs to," special teams coordinator Dave Fipp explained to reporters in 2023. "I think I spoke about how he’s really kind of a leader by example. A lot of what he does is how he leads, but he also has a subtle way of grabbing a guy and giving him some advice or a pointer and really taking the leadership of the whole group under his hands.

"And he’s done a great job with that. I mean we’re lucky to have him, I know that for sure.”

Here is a closer look at the financial terms of Reeves-Maybin's new NFL contract extension, according to overthecap.com.
