Jason Kelce apparently wants the rock

‘If there’s an O-lineman in the league that could play running back right now, who would it be?” That’s the question posed by Maxx Crosby to Quinnen Williams at the 2023 Pro Bowl. Williams' answer was Jason Kelce.

That’s high praise from two of the NFL’s best defensive linemen, but it’s not unwarranted. Kelce played running back in high school before walking on to the University of Cincinnati. After redshirting his freshman year, he moved to fullback before finally switching to center.

At 6-foot-3, 295 pounds, Kelce was drafted for his quickness and mobility, not size and strength. His 4.89 time was the fastest of any offensive linemen at the NFL’s 2011 Scouting Combine.

For his part, Kelce is all for the idea, going so far as to tweet, ‘Let’s test it out!’ alongside a video of Crosby and William’s conversation. For the Eagles’ part, they better never let it happen.

First of all, Philadelphia doesn’t need any help in the run game. No team ran for more touchdowns in 2002 than the Eagles and no team has more rushing yards this postseason than Philadelphia.

Besides, if any offensive lineman should carry the rock, it’s Jordan Mailata. Who doesn’t want to see a 6’ 8”, 365-pound rugby player making cuts in the open field?

Sorry Kelce, just get the ball to Jalen Hurts and leave the run game to your teammates.
