Jets' C.J. Mosley acknowledges potential distractions

New York Jets veteran linebacker C.J. Mosley acknowledged that reporting for training camp on Wednesday wasn't business as usual. 

"You can start with all the cameras that are around to start off the first day," Mosley told reporters, per Rich Cimini of ESPN. "We have a big name in (quarterback) Aaron Rodgers here. His first day here, you can kind of feel a lot of screws and bolts tighten up. That's expected with the name and the way he carries [himself]. ... Everybody is excited from top to bottom -- coaches, players."

The Jets immediately became must-see television when, after months of speculation, they officially landed Rodgers from the Green Bay Packers this spring. With the four-time NFL Most Valuable Player atop the depth chart, OddsChecker had the Jets as fourth among betting favorites at +1100 odds to represent the AFC in Super Bowl LVIII as of Wednesday. 

New York's first obstacle to overcome before Rodgers takes a meaningful snap in his new colors involves dealing with HBO "Hard Knocks" cameras throughout training camp and the preseason. Individuals associated with the club such as Rodgers and head coach Robert Saleh haven't hidden they want nothing to do with the reality television show, and it was reported earlier this week that the Jets "fought (being on 'Hard Knocks') all along" and could offer HBO "the least access" in the history of the program.

Mosley, who first entered the NFL via the 2014 draft, understands the Jets have unique challenges in front of them with Rodgers and HBO at the team facility. 

"I feel like we really need to keep our measure the same with the outside noise," Mosley added during his comments, according to Alex Smith of SNY. "More so now than any time, it’s easy to get distracted. If we let things be a distraction, it’s going to become a distraction, so we’ve just got to focus on what we can control." 

For what it's worth, Jacob Camenker of Sporting News pointed out that no team featured in the preseason version of "Hard Knocks" has ever won the Super Bowl later that same campaign.
